Red Hawks Easily Defeat Mount Mary

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – The Ripon women's soccer program cruised past Mount Mary 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon in the Red Hawks' final non-conference match of the 2024 season, scoring three times in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

Ripon (4-9-3) wasted little time jumping on Mount Mary (1-12-2) early, scoring in the eighth minute. Cielo Gutierrez found Jessi Griepentrog, and Griepentrog buried the ball into the back of the net for her first goal of the season to give Ripon a 1-0 lead.

The Red Hawks mustered an impressive 21 shots in the first half, but were unable to add a second goal. With under a minute to go in the first half, Mount Mary scored on its first shot of the match as the teams headed into the locker room even at one apiece.

Ripon started fast in the second half as well, re-taking the lead in the 46th minute. Martina Palazzolo scored her second goal of the season, unassisted, as the Red Hawks grabbed control once again. Gutierrez continued her scorching hot week moments later, tallying her second goal in seven days with a score in the 53rd minute. She was assisted by Viviana Alba.

Ripon's second half scoring outburst continued. In the 58th minute, Rebecca Roszel notched her fourth goal of the season off an assist by Alyssa Klementzos as the Red Hawks further distanced themselves from Mount Mary.

In a match that was only 70 minutes, Ripon kept Mount Mary out of goal the rest of the way and secured its third consecutive non-conference win.

The Red Hawks tallied a season-high 30 shots, putting 17 on goal while conceding just one total shot. Klementzos led Ripon with seven shots, while Roszel and Griepentrog had four apiece and Palazzolo and Gutierrez both had two.

Andreanna Wilke played the full match in goal for Ripon and was not forced to make a save.
