DE PERE, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's tennis program closed out its weekend in De Pere with a 9-0 loss at St. Norbert on Sunday afternoon inside the Green Bay Tennis Center.
St. Norbert (4-4) took an early 3-0 lead after sweeping the trio of doubles courts; SNC only dropped eight total games across the three courts though
Caleb Sippel and
Austin Stevens nearly forced a tiebreak on the top court but fell 8-6.
Ripon (0-7) was competitive in singles, leading four first sets in the later stages though the Green Knights ended up winning all six first sets. SNC clinched the match with a pair of straight set wins on courts six and one to open singles play. The Red Hawks dropped courts two, three and four in straight sets but
Corey Mooney forced a third set on court five that SNC ended up winning 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) to close out the afternoon.
NEXT UP: Ripon prepares for its home opener on Saturday (February 17) as the Red Hawks host Wisconsin Lutheran at 9 a.m. and Wartburg at 3 p.m. inside the Willmore Center.
