RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon women's tennis program raced out to an early lead and never looked back, routing Concordia University Chicago 8-1 on Sunday afternoon inside the Willmore Center.
CUC (2-13) only had five available players, so Ripon (2-12) quickly picked up forfeit wins on the third doubles court and the sixth singles court.
Jessica Griepentrog and
Andreanna Wilke dominated court two in doubles, 8-1, and Ripon led 3-0.
Chase Polyak and
Allison Pavlovec earned a close win on the top court and the Red Hawks led 4-0 with singles to go.
Aubrey Malotky cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win on court five in singles to clinch the match for the Red Hawks.
CUC got on the board on the top singles court, but Pavlovec responded with a 6-4, 6-2 win on the second court.
With the outcome in hand,
Yeva Pipan cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 win on court four while Wilke finished the match with a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 1-0 [10-4] win on the third line.
NEXT UP: Ripon has three matches next weekend in Owatonna, Minnesota, starting with a 3 p.m. match on Saturday (March 2) against St. Scholastica. At 6:30 p.m. that night, the Red Hawks will take on Northwestern (Minn.).
