DE PERE, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's tennis program played Hamline tough at the Green Bay Tennis Center, but the Pipers came away with an 8-1 victory over the Red Hawks on Friday night.
Hamline (4-2) took two of three doubles matches, but Ripon (0-5) stayed within striking distance as
Clayton Counts and
Caleb Sippel were 8-5 winners on the top line, putting the Red Hawks down by a point heading into singles.
Ripon's top three lines were competitive in singles as well, as all six singles matches on Friday were one eight-game pro set.
Ty Rondestvedt fell 8-6 on court three, while
Austin Stevens dropped a tight 8-5 decision on the second line and Sippel was defeated 8-4 on court one.
The Pipers cruised to victories on the fourth, fifth and six courts to round out the evening.
