AUBURNDALE, Florida – The Ripon baseball program fell 11-1 in seven innings to Loras on Thursday afternoon at the Lake Myrtle Park Complex.
Loras (9-3) struck early and often on Thursday, tagging Ripon (2-7) for one run in the first, two in the second and three in the third. The Red Hawks had runners in scoring position in six of the seven innings but were unable to bring home more than one run.
The Duhawks added a single run in the bottom of the fifth and took a 7-1 lead into the later innings. Loras ended the game early with a four-run, bottom of the seventh inning to win via a run rule.
Offensively,
Crete Slattery continued his strong start to the season on Thursday. The freshman collected his fifth multi-hit game of the season, going 3-for-4, and drove in Ripon's only run of the game on an RBI single in the top of the fifth.
Alex Pankratz and
Nick Terrell each recorded multi-hit games, going 2-for-4 and 2-for-3 respectively.
On the mound,
Mitchell Lukasik suffered his first loss of the season, going 2.2 innings while surrendering 10 hits and six earned runs.
Brady Wotruba pitched 3.1 innings in relief, giving up five hits and three earned runs.
