Red Hawks Perform Well at Competitive Marquette Invitational

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – The Ripon track and field programs continued the outdoor season on Friday, competing at the Marquette Invitational against Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA opponents from around the state and region.

The men came in third with 113.50 points – finishing ahead of Division II UW-Parkside and Division I UW-Milwaukee – while the women took fifth with 70 points.

Ripon earned top-five finishes in eight different field events across both genders to highlight the second week of outdoor competition for the Red Hawks.

On the women's side, Ripon got things going right away with the 3000-meter steeplechase. Gabby Allard was the winner with a time of 11:50.68, nearly 12 seconds clear of the second-place finisher from Marquette. Also in distance, Alison Denamur placed fourth in the 1500-meter run (4:54.86) while Jenny Cortes took fifth in the 800-meter run (2:24.89). To bookend the meet, the 4x400 relay squad of Madylyn Woyak, Bridget Finn, Cortes and Isabelle Willett paced the field with a time of 4:23.94.

On the men's side, Ripon's 4x100 foursome of Logan Vander Galien, Finley Manning, Dameco Walker and Jacoby Cefalu nearly set a new school record, but settled for a first place finish in 41.88. Also taking first place was Sam Trzebiatowski, finishing the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.81. Dorian Phillips and Zak Ladage were right behind him, placing fourth (1:04.67) and fifth (1:09.10) respectively in the event. Vander Galien took fifth individually in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.08 and, continuing his strong outing, took fourth in the triple jump (12.57m).

Ripon earned the fourth and fifth spots in the 1500-meter run as Rainier Villanueva (fourth, 4:05.21) and Jacob Jumbeck (fifth, 4:08.76) had quality showings. Similar to the one of the first running events of the day, a first-place result ended the running portion of the night for the men. Jumbeck, Walker, Christian Kuwaye and Villanueva clocked in at 3:28.28 to win the 4x400 relay.

Ripon had a field day in field events, earning standout finishes in a host of events. Dameco Walker took second in the long jump with a top jump of 6.87m, defeating two Division I opponents in the process. In the pole vault, Isaac San Diego also came in second, tying a Division II foe with a high mark of 4.45m. Sidney Hoffa placed fourth with a long jump of 4.90m, Anthony Snow clocked in at fourth in the javelin (34.08m) and Pierce Krowas took fifth in the same event with a throw of 33.29m. Also, Kalyn Otzelberger came in fifth in the discus (39.55m) while Braedy Picard did the same in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 37.77m. Picard earned another top-five finish in the shot put, placing third in 12.41m. Another Red Hawk, Noah Hanson, was fourth in the shot put with a distance of 12.25m.
