APPLETON, Wisconsin – The Ripon track and field programs wrapped up regular season competition on Friday night, winning a pair of dual meets against Midwest Conference foe Lawrence as part of the Fox River Showdown at the Whiting Track and Field Complex.
In total, Ripon won 13 events on the women's side and 12 on the men's side, finishing the regular season strong and setting the stage for the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend.
Jacoby Cefalu continued his record-setting 2023-24 campaign, breaking his own two-year school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.66 to take first in that event. Cefalu also won the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.70 – less than a tenth of a second behind his current school record in the 200.
Ripon claimed first in the initial four running events it participated in.
Jeremy Saloun won the men's 3000-meter steeplechase in 10:12.06, while the women's 4x100 crew of
Sidney Hoffa,
Devin Ibarra,
Madylyn Woyak and
Heleyna Weiss clocked in at 51.21. Next was
Jenny Cortes in the 1500 as the sophomore paced the field with a time of 4:41.52, while
Matt Seeber won the same race on the men's side in 4:03.98.
Hoffa was a winner moments later in the 100-meter dash, taking the crown in 13.11, while
Minnie Hoffman beat out four Vikings in the 800-meter dash for a first-place time of 2:27.06. Soon after,
Jenna Erickson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.72.
In the men's 800-meter dash,
Rainier Villanueva took first place in 1:56.59, and
Dorian Phillips took down the 400-meter hurdles field in 1:00.72.
Both the men's and women's 4x400 relay teams placed first to end the running event portion. The women's team of
Bridget Finn, Woyak, Weiss and Cortes crossed the finish line first in 4:04.85, while
Jacob Davies,
Dameco Walker,
Christian Kuwaye and Villanueva did the same on the men's side (3:26.99).
Two Red Hawks were the only participants in their respective events: Finn in the 100-meter hurdles (15.65) and
Kiki Sherman in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.93).
In field events,
Chloe Studinski was a winner in the high jump, going 1.60m, while Hoffa took first in the long jump (5.11m).
Isaac San Diego continued his strong season in the pole vault, winning that event with a high-water mark of 4.32m.
Ben Fisher put together an impressive showing in a pair of events, winning the long jump in 6.57m. He also won the high jump, tying his current school record of 2.05m set last season.
Further,
Braedy Picard won the men's shot put with a throw of 13.22m, while
Kalyn Otzelberger paced the women's shot put field in 11.55m. Otzelberger also claimed first in the women's discus with a toss of 39.27m.
Noah Hanson was the men's discus winner (38.71m) and
Sam Kobylski won the hammer throw (41.86m) to wrap up the evening.

Ripon looks to defend a pair of titles at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11). This year's championships are hosted by Illinois College.
