RIPON, Wisconsin – For the first time this season,
Ben Fisher of the Ripon men's track and field program has been named the Midwest Conference Men's Outdoor Field Performer of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Fisher put together an impressive showing in a pair of events in last Friday's dual at Lawrence, winning the long jump in 6.57m. He also won the high jump, tying his current school record of 2.05m set last season. His high jump score is currently #1 in the MWC while he's sixth in the conference in the long jump.
This is the third career weekly award for Fisher, and the ninth honor for Ripon this season.
Jacoby Cefalu and
Jenny Cortes swept the MWC Performer of the Week awards on January 16,
Bridget Finn was honored on both January 30 and February 20 and Cortes again received recognition on February 13. In the outdoor season, Cefalu was again honored on April 9 while
Dameco Walker and
Mikayla Flyte took two awards on April 23.
Ripon heads to Jacksonville, Illinois for the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11). The Red Hawks look to defend outdoor MWC titles on both the men's and women's sides.
