Robert Duley Returns as Track and Field Assistant Coach

RIPON, Wisconsin – Ripon College Athletic Hall of Famer Robert Duley is returning to Ripon College as an assistant men's and women's track and field coach for the 2024-25 season after a stint as an assistant coach at St. Norbert College.  Duley will oversee the middle-distance events on the track, where he had national-level success in the past coaching the Red Hawks.

Previously the head track and field coach at Ripon for 21 years, Duley began his tenure in Ripon in 1994 and added the role of head cross country coach in the fall of 1998, stepping down in 2013. As the head cross country coach, Duley led the Ripon women to their nine-highest Midwest Conference finishes ever, while the men's team had its best 12-year run in school history from 1999-2010. He coached more first division team finishes (19) and more All-MWC cross country runners (54) in his 16 seasons than in the previous 46 years combined.

A five-time Midwest Conference Coach of the Year in cross country and track and field, Duley coached 26 NCAA qualifiers, over 250 MWC medalists and over 400 Academic All-Midwest Conference performers across both cross country and track and field.

Twenty-five track and field school records still stand from performances that Duley oversaw in his time at Ripon, including national-qualifying performances in the 800m, steeplechase, 400m hurdles and high jump.

A 2010 inductee of the Ripon Athletic Hall of Fame, Duley coached 17 cross country or track and field student-athletes that are now alongside him in the school's hall of fame: Cory Zimmerman, Michelle Matter, Adam Sellner, David Billings, Charles Larson III, Michael Diedrick, Michael Immel, William Schultz, Dan Sutter, William Swartz II, Adam Zakos, Brittany Dick, Megan Draper, Crystal Helm, Jennifer Marcell, Donnie Dawson and Heather Schneider-Lutes.

Duley was inducted into the School District of Westfield (Wisconsin) Wall of Fame in 2023 after teaching social studies at Westfield High School for 31 years. He is a 2018 inductee into the Westfield Athletics Hall of Fame.
