Hawks Stay Hot With 5-0 Win at Rockford

LOVES PARK, Illinois – The 1-2 punch of Andre Robertson and Seth Schroeder helped kick-start a 5-0 rout for the Ripon men's soccer program over Rockford on Wednesday night at Wedgbury Stadium.

The win is the fourth in a row for Ripon (4-1), who last won four consecutive games in October of 2022.

Robertson and Schroeder continued their incredible 2024 campaigns on Wednesday, scoring goals in bunches as they have throughout the early season. Robertson netted the game-winner in the fifth minute on a feed from Gustavo Herrera for his fourth goal of the season, while Schroeder answered with his fourth in the 31st minute from Nick Bellisle. Schroeder has now scored in four consecutive games.

Ripon headed into half with a 2-0 lead, but added to it less than 90 seconds into the second half. Robertson scored his Midwest Conference-leading fifth goal of the season, unassisted, to add to Ripon's advantage.

Herrera scored his second of the season 10 minutes later, also unassisted, to increase Ripon's lead even more.

In the 81st minute, Jesse Ward scored the first collegiate goal of his career on assists from Eduardo Zermeno and Jackson Zielinski to finish off the scoring for the Red Hawks.

As has been custom for Ripon in 2024, there was no shortage of offense for the Red Hawks. Ripon piled up 29 shots to nine by Rockford (0-4). In the all-important second half, Ripon outshot the Regents 18-2. In five games this season, Ripon has recorded at least 13 shots in four matches.

Robertson led Ripon with six shots, Herrera had four and Emilio Ortiz and Bellisle accounted for three apiece. All told, 33 Red Hawks saw action on Wednesday night and 14 recorded a shot.

In goal, Drew Seyfer played the first 45 minutes and made three saves, while Sam Jahnke played the second half and was not forced to make a save.

UP NEXT: Ripon hosts Martin Luther at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14 in the Red Hawks' only match of 2024 played at Prairie Field.
