JACKSONVILLE, Illinois – The Ripon men's soccer program saw its eight-match winning streak come to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Red Hawks fell 3-1 to Illinois College at England Stadium in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams.
 
Both teams had chances to score in the first half – however, both defenses and goalkeepers stood tall as the sides went into half knotted at zero. Each goalkeeper recorded two saves in the first 45 minutes, though Illinois College (6-3-1, 1-0 MWC) had eight shots on goal compared to three for Ripon (8-2, 0-1 MWC).

It took less than 15 minutes for the Blueboys to find the back of the net in the second half. Jacob Pelletier scored on an assist from Carver Taylor in the 59th minute and the hosts were on the board.
 
The lead grew in the 66th minute as Oscar Liogon Arenas scored, unassisted. However, Ripon would not go away. Finley Manning connected on a penalty kick in the 75th minute – his fourth goal of the season – to cut Ripon's deficit in half.
 
IC scored once more as Tyler Schiltz notched his third of the season in the 88th minute, effectively putting the match away.
 
Illinois College had a 19-7 advantage in total shots over Ripon, and had twice as many shots on goal as the Red Hawks (8-4). Manning and Seth Schroeder each recorded a pair of shots, while Sam Jahnke made five saves playing all 90 minutes in goal.
 
In total, there were 26 fouls and six yellow cards issued in the match.
