RIPON, Wisconsin – After a record-breaking weekend,
Jacoby Cefalu of the Ripon men's track and field program has been named the Midwest Conference Track Performer of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
In Ripon's Alumni Dual with Beloit last Saturday, Cefalu broke not one, but two of his own school records previously set last season. First, he eclipsed his 60-meter dash record with a first-place time of 6.87 on Saturday. Cefalu's blazing performance is now the 14th-fastest 60-meter dash time in all of Division III this season and tied for the fastest 60-time in the Midwest Conference. Then, he won the 200-meter dash in 21.83, good for the third-fastest 200 time in DIII this season – and second-fastest in the MWC.
This is the third career weekly award for Cefalu and the second honor for Ripon this season.
Ben Fisher was named the league's Field Performer of the Week on December 10.
Ripon hosts the Red Hawk Opener beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 24 as Lawrence, St. Norbert and Carthage visit the Willmore Center.
