RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon women's basketball program remained perfect at home in 2024-25, easily defeating Beloit 67-44 inside Weiske Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Ripon (9-3, 3-0 MWC) led for the entire game on Saturday en route to its 17th-consecutive victory over Beloit (1-12, 0-4 MWC). The Red Hawks have won by a double-digit margin in each of the last nine meetings.
STANDOUT HAWKS
- Senior forward Ella Ten Pas scored a team-high 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, adding three rebounds.
- Senior guard Vanessa Solano chipped in nine points and two rebounds off the bench.
- Freshman guard Karsyn Nelson added nine points and four rebounds.
- Freshman guard Halle Van Horn nearly recorded a double-double with eight points, 10 rebounds, four steals, three blocks and two assists.
- Sophomore forward Sophie Schlieve scored seven points in five minutes on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting.
- Sophomore guard Laney Havlovitz contributed six points, five assists and four rebounds.
- Junior guard McKenzie Bestor tallied five points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
Ripon scored the first points of the game at the free throw line, and opened the game on a 6-0 run as Beloit was kept off the scoreboard for nearly five and a half minutes. The Red Hawks led by as many as eight in the period, and held the Bucs to just one made field goal. Van Horn scored the final two points of the quarter at the 2:19 mark and Ripon was up 14-6 after 10 minutes.
Beloit cut its deficit to five after a made triple two minutes into the second stanza, but five straight points put Ripon in front by double digits (21-11). After a Buccaneers layup at the 4:51 mark, Ripon scored the next 10 points, holding its biggest advantage of the half at 33-15. The Red Hawks conceded a late free throw and led 33-16 at the break.
Ripon enjoyed a lead of at least 14 points for the entirety of the third quarter. After Beloit made it a 35-21 game, four consecutive points pushed the Ripon lead back to 18. Six points in a row put Ripon in front 45-23, and a jumper by
Vanessa Solano gave Ripon its biggest lead of the quarter (51-25). Solano added a triple at the end of the period and the Red Hawks led 54-29 with one quarter to play.
Ripon scored five of the first six points to open the fourth quarter and led by at least 23 the rest of the way. With Ripon up 64-34, the Bucs kept fighting and scored seven straight to trim their deficit.
Maddi Friedle scored the final three points of the game for the Red Hawks at the free throw line as Ripon cruised to the victory.

- Ripon shot 28-of-59 from the field (47.5%) while Beloit was just 15-of-51 (29.4%).
- The Red Hawks enjoyed a 44-24 advantage in paint points, and scored 20 points off Beloit turnovers.
- Ripon had a dominating 46-26 advantage in rebounds.
- Eleven different Red Hawks found the scoring column and 19 Red Hawks made an appearance in the game.
- Bailey Darneal led all scorers with 13 points for Beloit.
