RIPON, Wis. -- The Ripon College men's soccer team put up a strong defensive performance Wednesday afternoon but fell just short against undefeated Lake Forest, dropping a 1-0 decision on the road.
The Foresters, now 14-0 overall and 5-0 in the Midwest Conference, scored the game's lone goal early in the first half and held on despite Ripon's resilient effort. Junior goalkeeper Drew Seyfer (Thiensville, Wis., Homestead HS) anchored the Red Hawks' back line with two saves, while sophomore defender Ian Martinez (Chicago, Ill., Notre Dame College Prep) and senior defender Connor Handrick (De Pere, Wis., Coe College) helped limit Lake Forest's high-powered attack to just four shots on goal.
Offensively, Ripon managed four total shots, including one on target from senior forward Andre Robertson (O'Fallon, Ill., O'Fallon Township HS) in the second half. Despite creating a few late chances and earning a pair of corner kicks after the break, the Red Hawks couldn't find the equalizer.
With the loss, Ripon moves to 7-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play. The Red Hawks will look to bounce back at home this Saturday at 1pm, when they host Monmouth College at Hopp Stadium.
