Red Hawks Shut Out by UW-Stevens Point in 4-0 Defeat

RIPON, Wis. -- The Ripon College women's soccer team couldn't overcome a strong offensive showing from UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday afternoon, falling 4-0 at Prairie Field.

The Pointers struck early, finding the back of the net on a penalty kick less than three minutes into the match to put the visitors ahead 1-0. UWSP added another in the 24th minute after converting a pass to extend the lead to 2-0 before halftime.

Ripon battled defensively throughout the match, with senior goalkeeper Britt Hable (Oshkosh, Wis., Oshkosh West HS) making six saves to keep the Red Hawks within reach. The defense, anchored by sophomore Mariah White (Mukwonago, Wis., Mukwonago HS), sophomore Alex Siudzinski (Green Bay, Wis., Green Bay Southwest HS), and junior Jadyn Johnson (Seymour, Wis., Seymour Community HS), limited UWSP's second half opportunities, but the Pointers continued to press.

In the 62nd minute, the Pointers made it 3-0, and eight minutes later, UWSP added the final tally to seal the 4-0 win.

Ripon managed three total shots, with sophomores Addison Misner (Richland, Mich., Gull Lake HS) and Alaina Wisteria (Mukwonago, Wis. Mukwonago HS) each putting one on frame. Despite improved possession and pressure late in the second half, the Red Hawks were unable to break through against a compact UWSP defense.

With the loss, Ripon moves to 4-8-5 (2-2-3 MWC). The Red Hawks will close out their regular season this Saturday, Nov 1, on the road against Lawrence University at 11 am.
