LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Red Hawks women's tennis program went 1-1 this weekend, falling to the Lake Forest College Foresters (7-1, 3-0 MWC) before defeating Concordia University of Chicago (0-11, 0-5 NACC).
The Red Hawks day would start with an 0-7 result against Lake Forest with competitive matches at a handful of flights. Three doubles duo
Isabella Engstrom (Ripon, Wis., Ripon HS) and
Allison Pavlovec (Decorah, Iowa, Decorah HS) would earn four games in their first match up, the best result of any Red Hawks doubles in the match. One singles
Hadley Berendsen (Kimberly, Wis., Kimberly HS) would put together the closest result in the other side of the lineup, dropping the match by a break in each set.
Against CUC, the Red Hawks would come out strong, capturing the doubles point 2-1 after a 6-1 win from Berendsen and
Josie Rondestvedt (Altoona, Wis., Altoona HS) at one doubles and a 6-2 win at two doubles from Engstrom and Pavolvec. In the singles lineup, Berendsen would again drop the top flight by just a break each set, but the rest of the Red Hawks lineup would win out, taking the match 6-1 in favor of the visitors. Six singles
Isabella DeMeuse (Hartford, Wis., Hartford Union HS) would see the closest winning result in the singles lineup, taking down her opponent 7-5 6-3 in a battle of attrition.
The Red Hawks return to the court at home this Thursday, Oct 9, against Lawrence University. The Vikings enter the contest 2-6 this season and 0-3 in MWC play, coming off a 0-7 loss to Lake Forest at the time of writing.
