RIPON, Wis. -- The Ripon College men's soccer team turned in one of its most dominant performances of the season Tuesday night, rolling to a 6-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist University at Hopp Stadium.
Senior forward Andre Robertson (O'Fallon, Ill., O'Fallon Township HS) stole the show with a first-half hat trick, scoring all three goals within a 13-minute span. He opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, then added another just 43 seconds later off a feed from freshman Matt Bettenhausen (Mokena, Ill., Lincoln-way Central HS). Robertson completed the hat trick in the 44th minute, assisted by freshman Brodie Hoth (Fleming Island, Fla., Fleming Island HS).
The Red Hawks carried their momentum into the second half, striking twice in the opening minute. Junior Thomas Geocaris (Green Bay, Wis., Notre Dame Academy) found the back of the net just eight seconds after kickoff, assisted by sophomore Seth Schroeder (Iron Ridge, Wis., Winnebago Lutheran Academy), and freshman Ethan Williams (San Antonio, Tex., Brandeis HS) followed only 40 seconds later off a pass from sophomore Ian Martinez (Chicago, Ill., Notre Dame College Prep), stretching Ripon's lead to 5-0.
Freshman Will Rockwell (Millstadt, Ill., Belleville West HS) capped the scoring in the 67th minute with his second goal of the season, assisted by freshman Carmine Di Miele (Elmhurst, Ill., York Community HS).
Ripon outshot Maranatha 18-3 (10 on goal) and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Bennett Ash (Hoffman Estates, Ill., William Fremd HS) and freshman goalkeeper Lucas Willard (Longmont, Colo., Niwot HS) combined for the shutout, with Ash recording two saves.
With the win, the Red Hawks improve to 7-4-1 (1-2 MWC) and will look to carry their momentum into conference play when they host Knox College on Saturday, Oct 11, at 1:30 pm at Hopp Stadium.
