WATERTOWN, Wis. -- The Ripon College women's soccer team cruised to a commanding 6-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist University on Monday afternoon, earning their third win of the season and first since late September.

The Red Hawks (3-6-3, 1-1-1 MWC) wasted no time taking control, with freshman Lizzy Schmitz (Sheboygan, Wis., Sheboygan Lutheran HS) opening the scoring in the 15th minute for her third goal of the year. Freshman Avery Brinkman (Cheyenne, Wyo., Cheyenne East HS) added to the lead in the 38th minute off a feed from junior Martina Palazzolo (Sterling Heights, Mich., Utica Ford HS), and senior Cielo Gutierrez (Oshkosh, Wis., Valley Christian School) made it 3-0 just before halftime.

Ripon carried their momentum into the second half as freshman Cecilia Strom (Ripon, Wis., Ripon HS) scored less than two minutes after the restart. Schmitz tallied her second goal of the day in the 52nd minute assisted by sophomore Lauren Janisch (Burnsville, Minn., Burnsville HS), before sophomore Addison Misner (Richland, Mich., Gull Lake HS) capped off the scoring just over a minute later. 

The Red Hawks dominated statistically, outshooting the Sabercats 29-2, including 19 shots on goal, while not allowing a single shot on target. Freshman goalkeepers Kaitlan Adkins (Milwaukee, Wis., Brown Deer HS) and Alondra Olguin (Splendora, Tex., Splendora HS) combined for the shutout in net.

Ripon will return home for their next match on Saturday, Oct 11, when they host Knox College at 11 am at Hopp Stadium.
