Red Hawks Battle Hard in Season Finale, Fall to Monmouth on Senior Day

RIPON, Wis. -- The Ripon College volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 season on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-1 to Monmouth College inside Weiske Gymnasium on Senior Day. The Red Hawks battled hard in front of their home crowd but came up short with set scores of 18-25, 19-25, 25-21, and 14-25.

After dropping the first two sets, Ripon showed resilience in the third, hitting .243 as a team behind strong offensive play from its front line. The Red Hawks controlled the tempo throughout the set, earning a 25-21 win to extend the match before the Scots closed things out in the fourth.

Sophomore Makenna Harren (Rosemount, Minn., Rosemount HS) led Ripon with 15 kills, followed by freshman Addi Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis., Wisconsin Lutheran HS) with 11 and senior Lainie Heizler (Park Falls, Wis., Chequamegon HS) with nine. Senior setter Emily Braun (Juneau, Wis., Dodgeland HS) tallied 19 assists, while freshman Mattea Jacobson (Saint Croix Falls, Wis., Saint Croix Falls HS) added 15. Defensively, freshman Bryn Carlson (Green Lake, Wis., Ripon HS) and Brooklyn Tranberg (Milwaukee, Wis., Wisconsin Lutheran HS) each collected 14 digs, and freshman Alexis Wieczorek (Crete, Ill., Crete-Monee HS) anchored the net with six blocks.

As a team, Ripon totaled 45 kills, 69 digs, and eight blocks in the match.

Saturday's contest also served as Senior Day, as the Red Hawks celebrated the careers and contributions of their graduating student-athletes in front of a supportive home crowd. Ripon's volleyball seniors include, Heizler, Braun, Michaela Riege (Waterloo, Wis., Bryant & Stratton), and Samantha Differt (Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Sevastopol HS).

The match concludes Ripon's season with a 9-19 overall record and a 3-5 mark in Midwest Conference play.
