OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The Ripon College men's basketball team fell on the road Tuesday night, dropping a 100-74 decision to UW-Oshkosh at the Kolf Sports Center.
UW-Oshkosh set the tone early, using efficient shooting and an up-tempo attack to build a 57-33 lead by halftime. The Titans converted early opportunities from both inside and beyond the arc, while also forcing turnovers that led to transition points. Ripon worked to find an offensive rhythm in the opening half but was unable to slow Oshkosh's momentum as the deficit grew heading into the break.
The Red Hawks came out with renewed energy in the second half and showed improved execution on both ends of the floor. Ripon scored 41 points over the final 20 minutes, moving the ball more effectively and creating higher-quality looks. Defensively, the Red Hawks competed possession by possession and were able to limit Oshkosh's efficiency compared to the opening half, but the Titans continued to answer with timely baskets to keep control of the game.
Ripon received balanced contributions throughout the lineup. Junior
Marshawn Robinson (Milwaukee, Wis., Waukesha South HS) led the way with 11 points off the bench, providing a spark in the second half. Senior
Kolby Williams (New Orleans, La., Heights HS) and sophomore
Michael Asman (Kimberly, Wis., Kimberly HS) each added 10 points, while junior
Seth Bunders (Wauzeka, Wis., Wauzeka-Steuben HS) finished with nine. Junior
Jack Field (Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Marian University) chipped in seven points and four rebounds as Ripon shot 46.8 percent from the field for the game and remained competitive on the glass despite the score.
Although the early deficit proved too much to overcome, the Red Hawks showed resilience and continued to battle through all 40 minutes on the road against a strong UW-Oshkosh squad.
Ripon will look to turn it around at home this weekend. The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, hosting Lake Forest College at 1pm in the Weiske Gymnasium.
