RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's tennis program picked up another victory on Saturday, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 4-3 inside the Willmore Center on a clinch by
Ryan Richter.
Ripon (4-3) picked up the early doubles point by winning two of three courts.
Ethan Tines and
Corey Mooney were 6-1 winners on the third line, while
Caleb Sippel and
Austin Stevens clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory on court one.
In singles, Wisconsin Lutheran (0-6) pushed back by winning multiple first sets early, though Sippel doubled Ripon's lead with a 6-0, 6-3 win on court one.
Courts two, three and four all went into third sets – Stevens picked up a 3-6, 7-5, [10-4] win on court two, but WLC earned victories on courts three and four. Still, Ripon led 3-2 with courts five and six left.
Wisconsin Lutheran took court five in three sets, leaving court six to decide the match. There, Richter was a 7-5, 6-4 victor to give Ripon the win.
