Finn Breaks Heptathlon School Record as Ripon Begins Outdoor Season

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – The Ripon track and field programs opened the 2025 outdoor season this week at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational hosted by Myrtle Beach Sports.

Facing competition from all levels of the NCAA, NAIA and JUCO, Ripon had participants in events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Bridget Finn had Ripon's best performance of the weekend. Kicking off her final collegiate outdoor season, the senior set a new school record and won the heptathlon with a total score of 4718, beating out multiple Division I and Division II competitors in the process. She eclipsed the previous record set by Callista DeCramer in 2019. Finn also took ninth in the 400 hurdles (1:06.72) against schools from numerous levels of competition.

On the women's side, Johanna Ibarra recorded a top 10 finish in the mile with a personal-best time (6:37.08). In the 5K on Friday, Ripon had two finishers inside the top 10: Mikayla Flyte took fourth in 18:28.14, while Gabby Allard was seventh in 18:50.69.

Also in distance, Joley Berger took third place in Saturday's 3K. Defeating numerous D1 and D2 runners, the freshman sported a time of 10:47.27. Nicole Arnhold earned a sixth-place finish in the triple jump "B" flight, doing so with a mark of 10.02m.

In men's events, Dameco Walker began his final collegiate outdoor season with an impressive sixth-place finish in Friday's long jump. He had a top mark of 6.72m. A pair of Red Hawks nearly qualified for Saturday's finals on the men's side: Jacoby Cefalu took ninth in the 100m with a time of 10.77, just shy of the 10.75 mark needed to qualify. In the men's 110 hurdles, Zak Ladage took 12th with a PR 16.31.

In his first outdoor meet, Brady Immel impressed in the discus. His top toss of 44.68m was good enough for fifth place, and eclipsed that of D1 and D2 counterparts.

As a team, the Ripon women tied for 12th (tied for third in D3), while the men tied for 22nd -- sixth among D3 schools.
