MADISON, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's tennis program wrapped up its weekend on Sunday, falling 5-2 to Edgewood at the John Powless Tennis Center.
The doubles portion of the afternoon was close throughout. After Edgewood (6-11) took court one, Jaden Francis and Ty Rondestvedt were 6-4 winners on the second line for Ripon (5-9). The doubles point came down to court three, where the Eagles won the court 6-4 to lead 1-0 with singles play on the way.
In singles, Edgewood claimed victories on courts two, three and four. to secure the match victory. Still, Ripon continued to fight. Caleb Sippel battled back for a 6-7 (5), 7-5, [10-4] win on the top line to give Ripon its first point before Edgewood took court five in three sets. To finish the match, Ryan Richter coasted to a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court six.
