OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – The Ripon track and field programs competed outdoors in Wisconsin for the first time this season, making the short trip to Oshkosh for the UW-Oshkosh Titan Invitational at Titan Stadium.
The Red Hawks benefitted from UW-Oshkosh's first home outdoor meet since 2014, and saw a number of fast times and strong showings with less than a month left of the regular season.
Jacoby Cefalu provided one highlight for Ripon, breaking his own school record in the 100-meter dash with a 10.44 finals performance to take second. In Saturday's prelims, he initially broke his record set last season by going 10.54. After his race, he stood sixth in all of Division III.
Bridget Finn gave the other – she smashed her previous school record in the heptathlon, totaling 4,945 points to nearly crack the top 25 all-time in the heptathlon across Division III. She paced the competition in that event and now stands second in Division III this season.
On the women's side, the 4x100 relay team of
Tatum Trudell,
Madylyn Woyak,
Sidney Hoffa and
Heleyna Weiss took second with a time of 50.82.
Jenny Cortes continued her strong outdoor season in the 800, earning runner-up honors with a time of 2:17.06.
Kiki Sherman earned a top-three finish in the 400 hurdles, taking third in 1:10.95. The 4x400 relay team of Cortes, Sherman, Trudell and Woyak ended the meet with a second-place, 4:12.11 finish.
On the men's side, Ripon's 4x100 relay quartet came in second as
Logan Vander Galien,
Jacob Davies,
Seth Bunders and
Finley Manning clocked in at 42.59.
Rainier Villanueva was the 800 runner-up (1:57.10), while Bunders also took fourth in the 400 (49.06).
In field events,
Ben Fisher took fifth place (1.93m) in the high jump and fifth place (12.91m) in the triple jump while Hoffa also took fifth, doing so in the long jump (5.26m).
Noah Hanson was solid in throws, finishing fifth in the shot put (13.91m).
A number of distance runners headed to UW-Platteville on Friday night for the UW-Platteville Invitational. All competing in the 5K, a number of Red Hawks had standout performances.
Joley Berger crushed her previous 5K record, taking 31st out of 134 finishers in 17:40.80. She also missed the school record by just two seconds.
Gabby Allard took 41st with a time of 17:57.62, while
Mikayla Flyte was 44th in 17:57.88. On the men's side,
Matt Seeber missed the 19-year school record by half of a second, as his time of 14:52.86 was good for an 89th-place finish.

Ripon competes in two meets next week, as the Red Hawks will head to Lawrence for the Viking Twilight on Thursday (April 17) and UW-La Crosse for the Phil Esten Challenge on Friday (April 18).
