GENEVA, Ohio – The Ripon track and field programs were well-represented on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute, collecting a trio of All-American awards.
After a rainy Thursday, Friday's weather was kinder to the Red Hawks.
Bridget Finn had a busy day, finishing the heptathlon competition while also competing in the high jump event.
Coming into the day, the graduate student stood in 11th place in the heptathlon. After the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run on Friday, Finn finished in seventh place with a total score of 4868. In the process, she secured first team All-American honors. Her second-place, 2:20.69 performance in the 800 – her final collegiate event – sealed the first outdoor All-American honors for a Ripon female since 2015.
The heptathlon wasn't the only All-American accolade for Finn on the day. The Hales Corners, Wisconsin native had a top high jump mark of 1.65m to take 10th place in that event – and earn second team All-American status.
Competing in his first career outdoor national championship,
Jacoby Cefalu took 11th place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.62 to earn second team All-American honors. The senior wraps up his Ripon career as a two-time All-American and three-time NCAA Championships participant.
