Ripon in First, Second at Halfway Mark of MWC Outdoor Championships

APPLETON, Wisconsin – The Ripon track and field programs had a strong start to the 2025 Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon at Whiting Field.
 
After day one, the men are leading the pack with 49 points while the women are in second at 39 points.
 
Joley Berger took home the 10K crown, winning the event with a time of 38:26.84 while her teammate, Mikayla Flyte, took third in 38:47.24. Also in distance, Jenny Cortes secured All-Midwest Conference honors in the 1500 with a third-place finish (4:43.79).
 
Ripon had a number of individuals advance to Saturday's finals in short-distance races. Bridget Finn won her heat in the 100 hurdles, doing so with a time of 15.49. Madylyn Woyak did the same in the 400 prelims (59.74) to advance to Saturday's finals. Sidney Hoffa was the last qualifier into Saturday's 100 final, earning a spot with a 12.72 time.
 
Other final qualifiers include Finn in the 400 hurdles (1:04.54), Kiki Sherman in the 400 hurdles (1:08.48) and Hoffa in the 200 (26.23).
 
In the men's 10K, Matt Seeber earned a runner-up finish with a time of 32:16.92. Dorian Phillips narrowly qualified for Saturday's 110 hurdle finals with a time of 16.38 and Jacob Davies (48.73) won his heat of the 400, almost setting a new school record in the process. Also in the 400, Seth Bunders won his heat on the strength of a 48.99 performance.
 
Other qualifiers into Saturday's finals include Jacoby Cefalu in the 100 (10.77), Logan Vander Galien in the 100 (11.03), Zak Ladage in the 400 hurdles (59.14), Cefalu in the 200 (21.75) and Davies in the 200 (22.16).
 
In field events, Dameco Walker won the long jump with a top mark of 7.47m – the #4 long jump in Division III so far this season. Finn took home the women's long jump crown – her mark of 5.67m is now top-30 nationally – and Isaac San Diego was the pole vault champion with a mark of 4.30m. His teammate, Sean Rath, earned All-MWC honors in the same event with a third-place finish (3.55m).
 
On Saturday, Ripon is looking for its fourth consecutive men's outdoor title and third-straight outdoor conference crown on the women's side.
