Ripon College is pleased to announce the hiring of Sam Hopp as its new Director of Athletic Communications, following a national search. Hopp replaces Brock Reisler, who recently accepted the role of assistant executive director of the Midwest Conference.
Hopp brings an impressive blend of creativity, enthusiasm and a collaborative spirit to Ripon's athletics department. A native of Sheboygan, Wis., Hopp comes to Ripon eager to contribute to the College's tradition of athletic and academic excellence while enhancing the visibility of Red Hawk programs and student-athletes.
"I'm excited to be part of the Ripon College Athletics legacy, and I can't wait to start working with the student-athletes while finding new ways of putting spotlights on their stories," said Sam Hopp.
In his previous role, Hopp served as the assistant sports information and head men's and women's tennis coach, managing game-day coverage, compiling statistics and producing digital content. His energy, innovative ideas and commitment to student-centered communication were consistently highlighted by the search committee and Ripon's coaches.
"Sam stood out for his vision and passion for elevating our brand and telling the stories of our student-athletes," said Chris Schumacher, vice president and director of athletics. "His enthusiasm for this opportunity was clear, and we believe his creative mindset, collaborative approach, and focus on student engagement will help us grow our athletic communications efforts in exciting ways."
Hopp's hiring follows a search that drew talented candidates with varying strengths. In the end, his ability to combine strong technical skills with fresh ideas and a genuine desire to be embedded in Ripon's campus culture made him the ideal choice for this position.
Schumacher added, "I want to thank Brock Reisler for his outstanding contributions to Ripon College. We are thrilled for him as he steps into his new conference leadership role, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in his new capacity."
Hopp will officially begin his duties on July 21st.
