RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- Ripon College women's tennis fell 1-6 to the UW-River Falls Falcons in the 2025 season opener this Saturday, Aug 30.
Jessi Griepentrog (Freedom, Wis., Fox Valley Lutheran HS) earned Ripon's sole victory at the four singles flight.
The Red Hawks opened the road match with tough doubles opposition, dropping the top two flights to give the Falcons the first point of the match. Ripon's three team of
Isabella Engstrom (Ripon, Wis., Ripon HS) and
Allison Pavlovec (Decorah, Iowa, Decorah HS) would put together the best result in the doubles lineup, playing the hosts even until late in the set, eventually falling 5-7.
Singles would see UW-River Falls claim most flights in straight sets, with Griepentrog's efforts at four the exception. Griepentrog would claim the first set by two breaks against the host, only for the Falcon opponent to come back with a 6-3 second set. With both teams forgoing a full third, Gripentrog would maintain control in the match tiebreak, putting the match away 10-5 to claim Ripon's only point on the day.
Ripon women's tennis returns to action Friday, Sept 5, taking on UW-Oshkosh on the road. The Titans enter the match 0-1 this season, coming off an opening match loss to UW-Whitewater.
