Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pointers' Early Goals Sink Ripon in 4-0 Loss

RIPON, Wis. -- The Ripon College men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to UW-Stevens Point in a physical non-conference matchup Wednesday evening at Hopp Stadium.

The Pointers (6-1-0) wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in the opening minute before adding two more goals before halftime, including one in the 33rd minute and another just before the break. UWSP closed out its scoring early in the second half with a fourth goal in the 49th minute.

Ripon (4-2-1) split time in net between Christian Hernandez (Rockford, Ill., Rockford East HS) and Drew Seyfer (Thiensville, Wis., Homestead HS). Hernandez recorded two saves in the first half, while Seyfer added another save after halftime to finish the game with three total stops for the Red Hawks.

On the attack, Finley Manning (St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, Holy Heart of Mary HS) and Connor Handrick (De Pere, Wis., Coe College) each tallied a shot for Ripon, with Handrick registering the team's lone shot on goal. Despite the chances, the Red Hawks could not break through against the Pointers defense.

The contest turned physical throughout, with both teams combining for 31 total fouls. Ripon picked up two yellow cards in the second half, assessed to Connor Reiner (Snohomish, Wash., Glacier Peak HS) and Andre Robertson (O'Fallen, Ill., O'Fallen Township HS).

Ripon returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 21, hosting Eureka College at 4 pm at Hopp Stadium for Senior Day in another non-conference matchup.
