RIPON, Wis. -- Ripon College women's basketball delivered another dominant performance on Tuesday night, defeating Lawrence University 67–34 at Weiske Gymnasium to remain perfect in Midwest Conference play and secure their fourth consecutive win over the Vikings.
The Red Hawks set the tone early with aggressive defense and steady offense, jumping out to an 18-11 lead after the first quarter. Ripon continued to build momentum in the second, holding Lawrence to just 11 points while stretching the advantage to 35-22 at halftime. From there, the Red Hawks never let up, outscoring Lawrence 32-12 over the final two quarters to seal the convincing victory.
Sophomore Halle Van Horn (Fredonia, Wis., Random Lake HS) led Ripon with an efficient 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting, consistently finishing inside and sparking fast-break opportunities. Junior Laney Havlovitz (Wild Rose, Wis., Wild Rose HS) added 13 points and provided constant pressure defensively, while junior Sophie Schlieve (Antigo, Wis., Antigo HS) also scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds to control the paint. Senior Natalie Rauwolf (Madison, Wis., Madison Memorial HS) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points, including timely perimeter shots that helped Ripon pull away.
Ripon's defense was the story of the night. The Red Hawks forced 29 turnovers and converted them into 38 points, disrupting Lawrence's rhythm from start to finish. Lawrence shot just 30.4 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from three-point range, as Ripon's defensive rotations and on-ball pressure limited clean looks throughout the game.
On the glass, Ripon held a 39-33 rebounding advantage and generated 10 second-chance points, while also capitalizing in transition with 17 fast-break points. The balanced effort was evident, with Ripon finishing with 12 assists and contributions across the lineup as the bench provided energy and depth.
With the win, Ripon improved to 14-2 overall and 7-0 in Midwest Conference play, continuing a strong conference start and reinforcing their position near the top of the standings. The Red Hawks will look to keep their unbeaten MWC record intact when they return to action on Saturday, Jan 17, traveling to Grinnell College for a 3:00pm tipoff.
