LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Ripon College men's basketball team dropped an 88-81 Midwest Conference road decision to Lake Forest College on Tuesday night at the Sports & Recreation Center.
The Foresters jumped out to a fast start, shooting over 63 percent from the field in the first half to build a 46-34 lead at the break. Ripon settled in offensively after halftime, scoring 47 second-half points and cutting the deficit to single digits multiple times, but Lake Forest was able to maintain control down the stretch.
Junior Seth Bunders (Wauzeka, Wis., Wauzeka-Steuben HS) led the Red Hawks with 20 points, adding four rebounds and three steals while knocking down 7-of-13 shots from the field. Junior Marshawn Robinson (Milwaukee, Wis., Waukesha South HS) provided a strong lift off the bench, finishing with 18 points and three assists in 28 minutes. Junior Jack Field (Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Marian University) was efficient in limited time, scoring 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while sophomore Keenan Rahn (Omro, Wis., Omro HS) chipped in 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, and two steals.
Ripon shot 46.9 percent from the field and improved its perimeter shooting in the second half, hitting six three-pointers after making just one in the opening 20 minutes. The Red Hawks also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 14-of-19 attempts on the night.
Despite the loss, Ripon showed resilience with several late pushes, trimming the margin to seven points in the final minute before Lake Forest sealed the game at the line.
The Red Hawks return home this weekend, hosting Illinois College on Saturday, Jan 31. Tipoff is scheduled for 1pm at the Willmore Center.
