MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Ripon College women's soccer team fell 2-1 on the road at Monmouth College on Saturday afternoon.
Monmouth took an early lead with a goal in the 11th minute, but the Red Hawks responded before halftime. Senior Jadyn Johnson (Seymour, Wis., Seymour Community HS) found the back of the net in the 37th minute to even the score at 1-1 heading into the break.
Ripon continued to pressure the Monmouth defense in the second half, outshooting the Fighting Scots 12-6 in the final 45 minutes. The Red Hawks finished with 21 shots overall, including 13 on goal, while holding Monmouth to 12 total shots.
Despite the offensive pressure, Monmouth scored the go-ahead goal in the 84th minute to take a 2-1 lead. Ripon continued to search for an equalizer in the closing minutes, but was unable to find the net again.
Sophomore Kaitlan Adkins (Milwaukee, Wis., Brown Deer HS) recorded three saves in goal for the Red Hawks, while Johnson led Ripon with the team's lone goal. Junior Alex Siudzinski (Green Bay, Wis., Green Bay Southwest HS) paced the team with four shots, including three on goal, and senior Martina Palazzolo (Sterling Heights, Mich., Utica Ford HS) added three shots.
Ripon will return home on Saturday, Oct 24, when the Red Hawks host Lake Forest College at 1:30pm.
