RIPON, Wis. -- Lauren Busalacchi's historic season on the sidelines has been recognized at the regional level, as she was named the D3hoops.com Region IX Coach of the Year.
Busalacchi led the program to one of its most successful seasons to date, guiding the team to a program-record 26 wins while rewriting the record book along the way. The year included 37 new program records, highlighted by a 21-game winning streak, the longest in program history, and a milestone 200th career win for Busalacchi as head coach.
Her leadership also helped the program reach new postseason heights, securing its first NCAA Tournament victory since 2005 and further cementing the team's place among the top competitors in the region.
Competing in Region IX, widely regarded as one of the toughest in Division III women's basketball, Busalacchi's squad stood out among elite programs from conferences such as the WIAC and MIAC. Her ability to guide the team through a challenging schedule while maintaining consistent success underscored the significance of the honor.
The Coach of the Year recognition reflects not only the team's accomplishments, but also Busalacchi's continued impact in building and sustaining a winning culture within the program.
