RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Ripon College women's tennis team earned a dominant 7-0 victory over Concordia University Chicago on Wednesday afternoon at CUC Courts, improving to 2-2 on the season.
The Red Hawks set the tone in doubles play, securing the lone doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Junior Josie Rondestvedt (Altoona, Wis., Altoona HS) and senior Jessi Griepentrog (Freedom, Wis., Fox Valley Lutheran HS) teamed up at No. 1 doubles for a 6-2 victory, while juniors Isabella Engstrom (Ripon, Wis., Ripon HS) and Emily Bittinger (Shell Rock, Iowa, Waverly-Shell Rock HS) posted another 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Holding a 1-0 advantage heading into singles play, Ripon continued to control the afternoon by sweeping all six singles matches.
Rondestvedt led the way at No. 1 singles, cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Griepentrog followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, giving the Red Hawks victories at the top two positions.
Engstrom battled through a competitive opening set at No. 3 singles before earning a 6-6, 8-6, 6-2 victory. At No. 4 singles, Bittinger turned in a dominant performance, dropping just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Senior Isabella DeMeuse (Hartford, Wis., Hartford Union HS) added another victory at No. 5 singles, earning a 6-2, 7-5, 10-8 triumph in a tightly contested match. Senior Ella Clark (Columbus, Wis., Columbus HS) completed the singles sweep at No. 6, posting a decisive 6-0, 6-1 victory.
With the 7-0 shutout, Ripon improves to 2-2 on the season. The Red Hawks will return to action Saturday, Sept 12, at home for a Midwest Conference matchup against Monmouth College.
