Derek Loomans

Derek Loomans is in his sixth season as an assistant coach for the Ripon College baseball team.

A native of Brandon, Wis., Loomans attended Waupun High School. He went on to pitch at Lakeland College, where he graduated in 2014 with a degree in Marketing.

While at Lakeland, Loomans compiled an 11-13 record with a cumulative Earned Run Average of 4.76. He also produced 10 complete games and four shutouts, while striking out 93 batters in 170 innings. As a senior, Loomans ranked 15th in NCAA Division-III for complete games (6), to go along with a team-best ERA of 3.58. He currently ranks third in school history for career shutouts (4).

After his collegiate career was finished, Loomans coached high school baseball at both Madison East and Sheboygan South. He also became the manager for the Sheboygan A’s, an amateur summer baseball team, from 2015-19. While at the helm of the A’s, Loomans led the team to a 161-108-2 record in his five seasons, which is the fourth-most wins by a manager in team history. He helped the A’s go 88-57 in the Wisconsin State League with three second-place finishes, while going 56-34 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League with three second-place finishes and twice finishing in third place. With Loomans as manager, the A’s won the 2018 Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic tournament.
