John Grosz

John Grosz is in his first year as Head Coach for the Ripon College cycling team.

"Although I'm a lifelong bike rider, I only became passionate about cycling in 2007, which is when my journey truly began," Grosz said. "I started putting in miles on my old college mountain bike that was old when I bought it and upgraded shortly thereafter."

Since 2007, Grosz has participated in more than 100 races across various disciplines, including the Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS) Mountain Bike series, which is the largest off-road racing series in the United States. He has also competed in the Wisconsin Endurance Mountain Bike Series (WEMS), Chequamogon Fat Tire 40 Point to Point MTB race, Ore to Shore Hard Rock Point to Point race, Ganther Race the Lake road race, and several Cyclocross (CX) events. Since 2009, Grosz has been racing CX in Category 4 masters and Singlespeed divisions. A highlight of Grosz's racing career is appearing at the United States Nationals three times.

John earned his B.F.A. in Industrial Design from UW-Stout where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

In addition to racing, Grosz has volunteered as a mechanic at "Dreambikes" in Madison, Wis. and at SAGES Charter School in Fox Lake, Wis. where he worked on obtaining donated bikes, parts, and money to establish and make ready a fleet of used bikes that were an integral part of their project-based learning initiatives in the community. He has also created custom "velo-centric" art and décor pieces from bicycle parts and pieces.

Grosz currently lives in Ripon and works at Georgia-Pacific in Neenah, Wis. where he is a Conceptual Development Leader.
