Steve Wammer

Steve Wammer is in his seventh year as Head Softball Coach at Ripon College, where he is the 11th Head Coach in program history. He also serves as the Associate Director of Athletics.

In his first season with the Red Hawks, Wammer led Ripon to its highest win total in six years, going 16-20, including a 10-8 mark in the MWC, which was tied for fourth place in the conference standings.

Wammer has coached 11 All-Midwest Conference players at Ripon and two All-Region selections, while he has had one player earn NFCA Division-III National Player of the Week honors. The Red Hawks have also earned the MWC Sportsmanship Award once during his tenure.

Wammer came to Ripon after a 16-year stint at Northland College where he led the LumberJills to seven appearances in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championship Game, which is the second-most appearances during that span. He led Northland to 239 victories during his 16-year tenure, including the 2008 UMAC Tournament Championship. In addition to his coaching duties, Wammer also served as Director of Athletics and Chief Compliance Officer at Northland. He was inducted into the Northland College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2022.

Prior to his time at Northland, Wammer served as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Student Activities at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Ill., where he was also Head Men's Basketball and Associate Head Women's Basketball Coach. He has also spent time at UW-Barron County, where he coached basketball and soccer, and at Concordia (Minn.), where he coached baseball and basketball.

Wammer received a B.A. in Physical Education from Concordia (Minn.), before earning his Master's in Kinesiology with Coaching Emphasis from Texas Woman's University. He is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) and has earned NFCA Four-Star Master Coach status. Wammer has served on the NCAA Division-III national committee on two different occasions.

Wammer and his wife Debbie, a second grade teacher in the Berlin Area School District, reside in Ripon. They are parents to adult triplets, Emily ‘21, Samuel, and Jacob.
