Red Hawks Defeat Lawrence, 124-90

The Ripon men's swim team won its second consecutive meet Saturday afternoon, outscoring Lawrence University, 124-90. The Red Hawks saw nine first-place finishes on the day, including two relays.

Team Captain Kevin Polston and Andy Paloumpis each won two events on the day. Polston took first in the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 58.74 and 2:11.66, respectively, while Paloumpis was victorious in the 200 and 100 butterfly with times of 2:10.95 and 57.13, respectively. Jonathan Newbery added a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.85, while Quinton Maydaniuk won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.91. Alex Mehre also won an event with a 400 IM time of 4:55.27.

In relay competition, Ripon won the 200 medley, as Nick Masterson, Maydaniuk, Mehre and Newbery teamed up to swim a time of 1:45.29. Ripon's 200 freestyle relay team of Paloumpis, Polston, Maydaniuk and Newbery added a first place finish with a time of 1:32.45.

The Red Hawks will be in action again next weekend, as they'll host their first of two home meets this season on Saturday. That meet will begin at 1 p.m. against Beloit College.
