Ripon Hosts Lawrence and Carroll in Saturday Double Dual

RIPON, Wis. -- The Ripon College swim and dive teams were back in action on Saturday afternoon, hosting a double dual against Lawrence University and Carroll University.

Despite several strong individual and relay performances, the Red Hawks were unable to come away with a team victory. The men's team fell 149-219 to Lawrence and 159-237 to Carroll, while the women dropped their duals in similar fashion, falling 159-237 to Carroll and 149-219 to Lawrence.

The meet opened with competitive relay swims for Ripon. On the women's side, the 200 medley relay team of senior Kennedy Moore (De Pere, Wis., De Pere HS), junior Ella Olive (Menominee, Mich., Marinette HS), junior Lily McGuire (Crystal Lake, Ill., Crystal Lake South HS), and senior Natalie Weidner (Portage, Wis., Portage HS) finished second with a time of 2:02.91. The men followed with a second-place finish in the same event, as senior Cooper Herr (Ashwaubenon, Wis., Ashwaubenon HS), junior Wil Hargrave (Ripon, Wis., Wisconsin Connections Academy), senior Brendan Kile (Verona, Wis., Verona Area HS), and sophomore John Kakuzi (Sheboygan, Wis., Sheboygan Area Lutheran HS) touched in 1:58.98.

Individually, Ripon collected multiple event wins. Herr claimed first place in the men's 50 freestyle (22.45) and added another victory in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 5:08.96. On the women's side, sophomore Kiarra Kahl (Monona, Wis., Monona Grove HS) earned a pair of strong finishes, winning the 100 breaststroke (1:17.29) and placing second in the 500 freestyle (5:49.24). Olive also delivered a win in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2:30.74.

Ripon's divers continued to contribute on the boards. Junior Corey Mooney (Greenfield, Wis., Greenfield HS) placed third in the men's one-meter diving event with five dives (113.95) and later finished second in the six-dive competition with a score of 163.25. Senior Mary Elliot (Bayside, Wis., Whitefish Bay Dominican HS) led the women, placing third in the five-dive event (118.85) and fourth in the six-dive competition (127.90).

The Red Hawks will return to the pool next weekend, traveling to St. Norbert College for a double dual against St. Norbert and MSOE, scheduled to begin at 1pm.
