RIPON, Wis. - In front of their home fans for the first time this season, the Ripon men's swim team won its third consecutive meet, defeating Beloit College, 120-74. The Red Hawks saw five first place finishes in the six total events in the meet.
Andy Paloumpis was the lone Red Hawk to win more than one event, finishing first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly with times of 1:55.59 and 56.59, respectively. In the 1000 freestyle, Alex Mehre won with a time of 11:51.94 and was followed by teammate David Peterkes with a time of 12:21.30. Jonathan Newbery added a first place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.08. In the 200 medley relay, Mehre teamed up with Nick Masterson, Tyler Rutkowski and Matthew Brandfass to win the event with a time of 1:48.51, which was nearly six seconds ahead of Beloit.
The Red Hawks will have next weekend off from competition before resuming the season on December 6 when they'll travel to Grinnell, Iowa to take part in the two-day Grinnell Invitational.
