APPLETON, Wis. - Ripon won their second consecutive match Tuesday night, defeating Lawrence University in four sets to move into fourth place in the Midwest Conference standings. The Red Hawks proved they could rise to the occasion when the pressure is on, winning the final three sets (28-26, 25-23, 25-21), after Lawrence took the first one by a score of 25-23. The match featured 26 ties and 11 lead changes.
Emily Gary recorded a career-high 24 digs for the Red Hawks (13-9, 3-2 MWC), which was one shy of cracking the school's top 10 for a single match. Gary committed just five errors on 51 attempts for a team-best hitting percentage of .373, while adding two block assists.
Katie Berrell tied a career-high with 17 kills of her own, while also recording two service aces and 18 digs.
Abbi Williamson did a tremendous job of setting up those big hitters, finishing with a career-best 57 assists, which is tied for fourth in school history for a single match.
Brianne Milroy led the team in digs (28), while
Kat Kulas proved to be a big presence at the net, recording a team-high three block assists.
Lawrence (7-15, 3-3 MWC) was led by Terese Swords' 15 kills, while Betsy Sorensen added 10, to go along with five block assists. Lauren Ray led the Vikings with 24 assists, while Kayla Storm led the team with 26 digs.
Ripon will try for their third consecutive win Saturday when they'll travel to Carroll University for another crucial match that could shape the landscape in the MWC. That match will begin at 12 p.m. in Waukesha, Wis. and can be seen live at,
