In a match that would determine the fourth and final playoff spot in the 2014 Midwest Conference Tournament, Lake Forest defeated Ripon Friday night in four sets (25-21, 25-15, 19-25, 25-20). Lake Forest finished with 53 kills, to Ripon's 43, while also holding the advantage in hitting percentage (.238-.197), as the Foresters never trailed in the three sets that they won.
Ripon (15-11, 5-4 MWC) was led by
Katie Berrell's 13 kills, while
Allison Barnes and
Paige Buddenhagen added nine and eight kills, respectively.
Courtney Bloomer chipped in with a team-high 12 digs, while
Abbi Williamson led the Red Hawks with 31 assists.
Emily Gary added seven kills and a team-high three blocks (two solo).
Lake Forest (13-14, 7-3 MWC) saw two players record double-digit kills, as Paige Jespersen and K.C. Wenson posted 13 and 12, respectively. Torie Pasiewicz led the Foresters with a match-high 41 assists and 11 digs. Lake Forest finished with 13 service aces on the night, with five different players recording more than one.
