DE PERE, Wis. - Ripon dropped their second consecutive match Wednesday night, falling to St. Norbert College, 3-1. The Red Hawks lost the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-21, before rallying to take the third set, 25-18. That would be as close as they would get however, as St. Norbert won the fourth set, 25-18, to end the match.
The Red Hawks (11-9, 1-2 MWC) finished the match with a hitting percentage of .258. They were led by
Katie Berrell's 14 kills.
Kelli Walsh and
Emily Gary added nine kills, while Gary also posted a match-high three blocks (all solo) and Walsh led the way with a hitting percentage of .533.
Abbi Williamson again led the team in assists with 33, while
Allison Barnes was the team's leading dig producer with 15.
St. Norbert (9-12, 3-0 MWC) recorded a team hitting percentage of .308. Breanne Brocker led the Green Knights with 19 kills, to go along with 15 digs. Heidi Spies added 16 kills and four service aces, while Anika Johnson registered 13 kills. Kaitlin Delahaut notched a match-high 47 assists, to go along with four service aces.
Ripon will try to rebound on Friday when they'll host Illinois College in what will be the Red Hawks annual "Play For The Cure" Match. That match will begin at 7 p.m. in Ripon, and all fans in attendance are asked to wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness. There will also be opportunities throughout the evening to donate money that will go towards breast cancer research.
