RIPON, Wis. - In what was their final tune-up before the 2014 Midwest Conference Championships, the Ripon women's swim team lost a dual meet to UW-Oshkosh, 142-53.
The Red Hawks were highlighted by a great performance by
Hannah Metz, who won two events on the day. The freshman was victorious in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.66, while also winning the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.65, which was nearly two full seconds better than the second-place time.
Winona Holmes-Robbins also won an event, placing first in the 100 butterfly with a ime of 1:04.71. Fellow Red Hawk,
Sara Heitkamp, finished right behind Holmes-Robbins in the event, swimming a time of 1:07.68. Heitkamp also took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:10.73.
In relay competition, Ripon's 200 Medley team of Holmes-Robbins, Metz,
Hannah Herzog and
Rachella Bennett finished second with a time of 2:03.96, while Heitkamp combined with
Laura Shively,
Sara Driebel and
Ashley Storms to finish second in the 200 Freestyle (2:10.47).
Ripon's season will conclude at the 2014 MWC Championships later this month. That meet will begin on February 14 and will conclude on February 16 in Grinnell, Iowa.
