Game 2 Box Score
RIPON, Wis. - One day after scoring 13 runs on 24 hits in a doubleheader sweep at Beloit, the Ripon offense wasn't able to muster much offense against UW-Oshkosh. The Red Hawks lost to the Titans 8-0 and 3-0, with the first game lasting six innings.
The first game was closely contested early on, as UW-Oshkosh (16-4) scored the first run in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Lindsey Luedke. The Titans then broke the game wide open in the fifth thanks to a Ripon throwing error that allowed six unearned runs to score. The big blow came on a two-run home run by Katie Koepsel. UW-Oshkosh added a run in the sixth on an RBI double by Koepsel to cap the scoring.
Ripon's three hits in the game came from
Stephanie Cartwright,
Cassie Bilotto and
Courtney Bloomer.
Ashley Parkkonen (0-4) suffered the loss, despite allowing just one earned run and striking out two.
The second game was much closer throughout, with the common theme being a costly error, as a Ripon miscue allowed two of the Titan's three runs to be unearned.
Those two unearned runs came in the top of the third as Emily Mallek broke a scoreless tie when she scored from third on the Red Hawks' fielding error. The second run came on a groundout by Koepsel, allowing Haley Bayreuther to score. Bayreuther added an RBI single in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Ripon (5-13) finished with four hits, with Cartwright and
Jordan Hester recording two apiece.
Ashley Gnacinski (4-7) took the loss, allowing just one earned run in seven innings, striking out one batter.
The Red Hawks will try to rebound on Tuesday when they'll put their undefeated conference record on the line against St. Norbert College. That doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m. at Tracy Field in Ripon, with LiveStats available at
