Red Hawks Open Season With Loss To Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa -
The Ripon women's swim team opened their 2015-16 campaign with a dual loss to Loras College by a score of 115-102. The Red Hawks won five individual events, while winning two relays.

Emma Goral was the only Ripon women's swimmer to win more than one individual event, taking first in the 50 freestyle (26.06) and 100 butterfly (1:00.63). Freshman Abby Hilker also earned a first-place finish for the Red Hawks in her first collegiate meet, winning the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:52.71. Winona Holmes-Robbins added a first-place finish in the 200 IM (2:25.31), while Gabby Horstmeier won the 100 breaststroke (1:19.51).

In relay competition, Ripon won both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle. In the 200 medley, Holmes-Robbins, Horstmeier, and Goral teamed up with Hannah Metz to swim a time of 2:00.85. In the 200 freestyle, Hilker teamed up with Megan Pieper, Kim Frisque, and Katherine King to swim a time of 1:54.04.

The Red Hawks will be in action again next weekend when they'll host a dual meet against Lawrence University. That meet will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Storzer Center.
