Ripon Men Defeat Lawrence In Dual Meet

RIPON, Wis. -
The Ripon men's swimming team defeated Lawrence University 123-58 Saturday afternoon in what was the Red Hawks' first of three home meets on the season.

Ripon saw three different swimmers win more than one event. Andy Paloumpis took first in the 100 butterfly (57.76) and 500 freestyle (5:31.47), while freshman Nate Pakosz won the 50 freestyle (22.33) and 100 freestyle (49.34) and fellow first-year swimmer Jack Lutter won the 100 backstroke (59.93) and 200 freestyle (1:53.18). Freshman Antony Gradillas was also victorious in the 1000 freestyle, swimming a time of 11:26.25, while freshman Brenden Finley won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.02.

In relay competition, Ripon placed first in the 200 medley, as Lutter, Finley and Paloumpis teamed up with Alex Mehre to swim a time of 1:46.84. Mehre also teamed up with Gradillas, Sutton and Pakosz to win the 400 freestyle with a time of 3:27.80.

The Red Hawks will have next weekend off, before getting back in the pool on November 14 at Lake Forest College. That meet will begin at 1 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill.
