RIPON, Wis. - In what was their first of three meets this season in front of their home fans, the Ripon College women's swimming team lost a dual meet to Lawrence University Saturday afternoon, 127-78.
Despite the loss, the Red Hawks had several outstanding performances, which included a pair of first-place finishes by Emma Goral, who won both the 200 freestyle (2:01.37) and 100 butterfly (59.04). Hannah Metz added a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.72, while Winona Holmes-Robbins won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.44. Abby Hilker was also impressive with a second-place finish in both the 1000 freestyle (11:54.31) and 500 freestyle (5:46.67).
In relay competition, Ripon's 200 Medley team of Holmes-Robbins, Goral, Gabby Horstmeier and Lateesha Hiser finished second with a time of 1:58.31. Ripon's 400 freestyle relay of Hilker, Metz, Kim Frisque and Katherine King also finished second with a time of 4:02.19.
The Red Hawks will have next weekend off from competition, before jumping back in the pool on November 14 at Lake Forest College. That meet will begin at 1 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill.
