RIPON, Wis. - Hosting their second dual meet of the season, the Ripon College men's swim team tied Beloit College on Saturday. Each team finished the meet with 93 points.
Freshman Alec Sutton led the way with a team-best two first-place finishes, winning both the 200 freestyle (1:51.86) and the 100 freestyle (49.95). Alex Mehre added a first-place finish for the Red Hawks in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.52. Andy Paloumpis also had a good showing, finishing second behind only Mehre in the 200 butterfly (2:12.78) and finishing in second behind Sutton in the 200 freestyle (1:56.42). Nate Pakosz also recorded a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (22.72) and the 100 freestyle (51.43).
Ripon's relay teams also fared well, as both their 200 medley and 200 freestyle teams took first place. In the 200 medley, Paloumpis and Mehre teamed up with Jack Lutter and Brenden Finley to swim a time of 1:45.78, while the 200 freestyle team of Lutter, Sutton, Pakosz and Antony Gradillas finished with a time of 1:32.09.
The Red Hawks will have next week off from competition, before jumping back in the pool on December 4 at the Grinnell Pioneer Classic in Grinnell, Iowa.
