OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Ripon softball team's 2015 season came to a close Saturday afternoon, as the Red Hawks dropped both games of a doubleheader to UW-Oshkosh. Ripon lost the first game 13-0, before losing the second 9-0, both of which lasted five innings.
In the first game, UW-Oshkosh (26-9) broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, with two of those coming on a home run to right field. The Titans added another run in the third, before opening the floodgates with nine runs on five hits in the fourth inning. In that nine-run inning, UW-O connected on two more home runs.
Ripon (5-26) finished with two hits in the game, coming from
Meg Krautsch and
Ashley Parkkonen. UW-Oshkosh's 13 runs came on 12 hits.
The second game went much like the first, with UW-Oshkosh getting on the board in the bottom of the first. All nine of the Titans' runs came in that inning, with the only two earned runs of the frame coming on another home run.
Ripon's only hit in the contest came off the bat of
Ashley Gnacinski to lead off the fifth and final inning.
